I liked this, it was definitely in the spirit of the Death Note series and Firefly at the same time, which makes for delicious crack. XD Lol Jayne.

Aw, thanks a lot! I'm glad it worked, I've seen, like, half an episode of Death Note, subtitled into French and decided to simply ignore everything that didn't suit my purposes and forge through blindly. But when I showed it to Deanna she was all 'ZOMG Simon killed his father???' and I was all 'zomg no, it's SIMON, of course not!' but I think that's only because I actually knew what was going on in the story.

Jayne has been killing people who annoy him left and right, by the time Zoe and Mal catch on. I suspect he even tried to kill River, only to find it didn't work cos Simon's grandfather had got there before him. :) I think he's rather upset at Mal for a bit after the notebook's gone, but like River says, Vera was starting to get jealous.

Of course, must not make Vera jealous! XD

You ought to watch or read Death Note sometime - it's twisted and convoluted and awesome.

Not Vera, no siree!

I will try to get to it, but to be honest, from all the rules it sounds a bit too heavy handed. I've read a few of the summaries what with the research for this fic, but it seemed just a bit too pretentious and overbearing for me. I fail, I know!

Zoe’s also been noticing something funny ‘bout their luck for a while now, but hasn’t quite managed to put words to it until Jayne wipes out a notebook in the middle of a job getting steadily sourer by the second ( ... )

Man, your icon!

I'm so glad you liked it; it was meant to be a lot more light-hearted and I'm sorry that didn't happen! More Jayne, less Simon, but then Simon's family drama took over, and I couldn't think of any other way to get the notebook to him, anyhow - there's no way he would own one of those because he wanted to, it has to fall into his hand in a more haphazard way.

I do love love love the image of Jayne pulling out a notebook in the middle of a heist gone wrong and killing everyone off. It's just hilarious!

That totally rocked!

Just making sure I understand - 28 lines = 4x the rest of the crew's names, misspelled?

Thanks ever so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I was terrified of posting it anywhere because it's such an esoteric crossover, so it's very lovely to know someone who doesn't know me enjoyed it. :)

And yes, 28 is indeed 7 * 4. It's Simon, he wouldn't actually kill anything!
