Stryver is stupid...he wanted to marry Lucie just to show that hes awesome and that he can get any girl he wants. That's not true but I guess it's what he thinks. Carton needs to get some sense and take control of his life.

sydney carton is the greatest character in that book. he's knows that he'll never get what he wants, and he can live with that. i think that everyone can relate to that. no one is going to get everything in life, and they should learn to deal with it. i think there is a lot to be learned from carton, just you wait and see.
