Nah, I'm thinking the guy is long dead and gone, but he actually does have a son or something (which is why Grimmauld Place won't really accept Harry) who does have whatever he left behind of the quest Harry is now taking care of. Thus, a reason for Voldiekins to kill him: Regalus knew too much.
