About a week ago I watched this TED talk with shadesong on happieness and success.

Go watch it.  Now.

I'm serious!

If you don't have twelve minutes right now, here's the really short version: we should get happy to become more successful, not become more successful to get happy.  One way to do this is to train you brain to focus on positive things rather than ( Read more... )

Tim Ferris is fascinating, isn't he? I've been reading the Four Hour Workweek myself, and my brain has exploded. :)

I got turned onto Tim when I read an article on him in the New Yorker. What I love about him is his total disregard for "conventional wisdom" while at the same time being very careful to back up his own claims.

I started reading Four Hour Workweek back when I had just moved to Boston, and I found myself wishing I had chosen a different business to start first. As many entrepreneurs I've met have pointed out, my business requires far too much work.

I really dug the talk. I also like the early morning hack - I'm going to give that a try tonight and see what happens.

Thanks for the link to the TED talk; very cool. :-) I have found that I am very happy with my current work projects, or maybe I am just in a happier state of mind, and that makes the whole process of working that much easier. The fact that people are so willing to pay me to talk to people, and that people are willing to talk to me about my projects, is a very good thing.

I have read a bit about Tim Ferris, pro's and cons... will reserve my own judgement until I get a chance to read his book for myself. But, the idea of protein and carbs before bed makes sense. They help you sleep better, and then you wake up refreshed, recharged and ready to face anything.
