Is cancer fairly common in rats like this? I don't know much about the "domesticated" rat.

Sorry to hear she wouldn't be able to be helped. :(

Unfortunately cancer is prevalent in domesticated rats. And their little lives are so short in comparison to most pets that everything seems like it's stuck in fast forward. Bella's tumor for instance doubled in size in just a week and a half.

Still, this year's been really rough even by ratty mortality rates. First Belle with her respiratory infection, then Denali to grief, then Bella to cancer. It's hard to keep taking it.
