Bragging

I have to brag on my awesome boy. He ROCKED it last night. I only had to zap him with vinegar water for barking/whining a couple of times at the beginning of class and get his attention with the prong collar when he growled at a Lab (who started it).

The week of working to desensitize him to playing dogs in the park worked wonders. He actually ( Read more... )

And it obviously needs saying that you too need congratulating. You are the model dog owner and your hard work has helped to get Dante where he is. Well done Steph.

Yikes. :) Thank you but I think it's mainly just the desire to have indoor dogs I can live with. (And huge well trained dogs walking perfectly on a leash are far more intimidating than the ones jerking their owner off the trails.) :D

You're gonna be the next Cesar Milan. (Do you watch "The Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic Channel?)

I think you could be a professional dog trainer with a little more intensive practice. Truly.

I don't have cable but I've seen bits and pieces of Cesar's show. I'm torn on those shows. On the one hand, it can give people some good information they might not otherwise get. On the other, a lot of them take the methods he's using on one dog and try it on theirs (which has entirely different issues).

And eep, thanks but I'll stick to beating working my Beasts into shape. holleypack is the real rockstar when it comes to training. Her dogs are awesome!

I second those congratulations on your dog-ownership. You know I know about squat about dogs, but I'm pretty certain a dog's only as good as his owner. Kinda like a kid's only as good as his/her parents, and the kid's erratic behaviour MUST be ADHD, and not the result of too much soda, tv and candy, and not enough proper attention and supervision. (exceptions everywhere, of course) And if you managed to turrn mister Barkalot in a near-perfect example of dog obedience... well, I'm sure only a minor part of the praise for that should go to Dante being a smart boy :) Yay you!
