I keep comparing myself to my boyfriend's ex, Len, and it's really getting on my nerves. She was really pretty, even if she did have some jacked up teeth, and I'm worried I can't compare. I'm worried that his family doesn't like me as much as they liked her, or that his friends don't like me as much as they like her, even though she made him miserable and everyone knew it.

But that's a natural thing to do, especially if the ex was pretty. Even though you know that she made him unhappy and everyone else knows that, it's still hard not to think 'oh gosh she had such and such and I don't'.

But you know what? He's not dating her anymore, he's dating you. Even if she was prettier, or smarter, or whatever else you're comparing yourself to, she's not dating him anymore. He wants you, and I sure as hell know that whoever you are, you're wonderful enough that his family and friends are lucky to know you.

I know (oh god self-esteem issues do I know them) that you can say that stuff over and over and it won't really change it, but it's better than dwelling on the negatives. Force yourself to keep saying it until you really believe it. It actually works, it's how I get through my bad days!

And if you're really desperate, just remember that you can smile in photos and she needs to keep her mouth shut. :D

You are the sweetest thing in the world, I swear. ♥ I've not told anyone about those insecurities, so it really helped to just get them off my chest.

Also, since I'm still going the anon route even though you might be able to guess who I am, I'll just go ahead and take the time to tell you that you're awesome. I never get to talk to you these days, but you're still one of my favorite people on LJ. Keep being amazing, okay? And keep making me laugh with smartass comments like that one. Oh God, don't say stuff like that or I'll run off pfft. Talking about stuff that;s bothering you always helps, even if whoever you're unloading on doesn't have an immediate answer. Otherwise they'll just bottle up and you wind up bawling over things like your physics homework. xD
