Web-Based Publishing Experience/Knowledge

PAY RATE: DOE

**MUST HAVE A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN JOURNALISM OR RELATED FIELD**

Volt has a long-term position available in Bellevue, WA for a Daily
Content Editor/Producer. This is a 3-month renewable position that will
last for up to a year. Additionally, the position consists of a 40-hour
work week. Overtime is unlikely (though opportunities may occasionally
arise).

Position Description:

Our Client's Editorial team (for their homepage) has an opening for a
savvy and seasoned Content Editor, who will work on one of the largest
web pages in the world.

The Content Editor position entails establishing relationships and
working with Producers, Editors and Channel Managers from all properties
around the network to discover the best content that each property has
to offer.

The team must be able to successfully marry what Our Client's web portal
audience is looking for on a daily basis with the business goals and
content offerings of the network. This position also involves tracking
along with homepage data to identify trends, editorial successes and
areas for improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Content Editor:

* Will make decisions on what content to run on the homepage, as
well as which content not to surface for the homepage audience.
* Will be tasked with writing and editing headlines each day that
encourage users to click around the network, in addition to choosing
content and gauging quality.
* Will be charged with understanding business models, becoming
familiar with external partners and working with content of varying
types on the network.
* Must have the capacity to understand and work with 20+ network
properties, each with different content and varying business models.
* Will work as part of a team in a fast-paced, daily publishing
environment, and should be versatile in both tasks performed and topic
expertise.

This is an estimated 3-month renewable contingent/temporary position (of
up to one year) through Volt Technical & Creative Communication, which
is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. We are among the largest IT
staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire
placements and support most of the top-rated IT companies in the Pacific
Northwest.

Required Skills for this Daily Content Editor/Producer position include
the following:

* Bachelor's degree in Journalism or related field required
* Experience tracking, collecting, analyzing site metrics
preferred
* Must be a seasoned Writer and Editor with at least three (3)
years of experience in a daily Publishing environment (print or Web) and
at least two (2) years of experience working in Web-based publishing
* Must also possess:

* Strong writing/editing skills
* Knowledge of Web-based Publishing
* Solid communication and partnering skills
* A proven ability to write/edit short, snappy, riveting
headlines and copy

* Must also understand Web behavior, Web culture, and what does
and does not work from a consumer point of view, as well as have a
thorough understanding of and passion for Web publishing, including a
working knowledge of its tenets (current wisdom about length, style,
tone, interactivity, click-through, audience loyalty, traffic patterns,
etc.)
* Should be highly organized, self-motivated, resourceful, capable
of making numerous editorial decisions while under pressure, and able to
manage strict deadlines -- both for him/herself and for outside Editors
