How old is your little one? Are there certain foods he's more partial to than others?

I can help / relate. :)

Breakfast is the easy part. Waffles, oatmeal, even that crappy sugary cereal we buy and *say* it's for the kids but it ends up just feeding our secret Cocoa Puffs addiction. Since he's not picky, breakfast is simple. As for the lunches, packing something good that stays yummy even after sitting in the cubby for a few hours is a challenge. Celery wilts, pb&j gets all smooshy... Hm. Best I can say is to avoid those prepackaged lunches, since they're expensive and not very good anyway. Find out if they have a fridge/microwave at the day care, too. If they do, you can probably pack up a single-serve chef boyardee and some fruit and he'll be happy. If not, just think back to what you packed for school lunches as a kid, and hope for the best!

This isn't actually from kid experience. This is from me packing lunches for work. But same enough, I hope. :)

My kids are only 2 1/2 and 1 1/2 but I'm lazy when it comes to food so I stick to the easy stuff... Fresh fruit is good and easy (slice an apple, peel a banana or orange, peaches, necatrines, anything really) I just buy whatever is in season cuz it's cheaper. They LOVE yogurt and it's good for you... glass of juice or milk or water. Slice of toast. Quesadilla's are good with some lunch meat chopped up and added in, also scrambled eggs. And since kids don't appreciate omlettes I will throw in some shredded cheese and chopped lunch meat (again) and scramble it all up. I use lunch meat with a lot of things, can you tell? Also, sometimes I'll use the american sliced cheese and some lunch meat (you can use whatever you like, there are quite a few types... turkey, ham, beef... I prefer smoked turkey or ham thinly sliced...)and a bagel or english muffin or a couple slices of bread put the cheese on one side, the meat on the other, pop it in the toaster oven and when it's done, everything is tasty warm and melted ( ... )

I will tell you what I like to do for my daughter when she goes to school. I make her a ham sandwich or whatever kind she feels like having that day and I use cookie cutters to cut out her sandwich it is so cute and she loves it. I put a little snack bag of chips, a fruit, and a little debbie cake of some sort. I hope this gives you some idea.
