Potty Training Dead Line

Jun 10, 2009 08:05

My daughter is 3 1/2 and still isn't interested in the potty. Any attempt I've made she doesn't show much interest. She's suppose to start pre-school in August but if she's not potty trained she can't go. I've read a bunch of potty training books, used stickers, treats etc to get her to be interested in the potty but nothing works. I was told by ( Read more... )

I did all that, and my ped told me the same thing about not rushing.. Then told me that I needed to just put her in normal underwear. I did, and by the next day, she was trained. Now, we had an accident or two, but for the most part, smooth sailing. Good luck!

Tried that before too, it equaled to a increase in laundry and having to clean the carpet. My mom got upset and made her go back to diapers.

How about normal panties and a pull-up or plastic pants over them? They would still be uncomfortable when wet, but not mess the carpet up.

This worked for me with one of my kids too, he was almost 4 & it was time! Once I got rid of the all too comfy PullUps & put him in normal underwear that were uncomfy when wet or messy, it wasn't long (maybe a day or two) until he was using the toilet when he had to go.

does she have her own potty? soloadventure June 10 2009, 15:01:43 UTC
get a potty for every bathroom in the house.

there's something called potty training bootcamp, and I think you take a weekend or so, the first time she shows an interest in it. Put her in big girl undies, and deal with the accidents. There are specific techniques to this, but you've got the whole summer to work on it. When my son was little, I put him in a big tee shirt to hide his bottom and let him run around the yard nekkid.

Don't listen to your family. My son's best friend, at six, still isn't night trained. it takes as much time as it takes.

I can't help, I'm afraid, but I'm in a similar situation. My little boy is coming up on 3 1/2 and shows no interest at all. He'll sit on the toilet or potty but not do anything, then the minute he gets off he wees. It's frustrating as hell.

I used a few tricks put together for my boys. (Wiccarowan, boys are harder than girls on this one. The required muscle control develops a bit later for them ( ... )
