Hello everyone,

I'm so thankful to be part of this group! I look forward to sharing tips and experiences with you all. I am sort of a newly single parent. I'm 35 yrs old with a 5yo daughter and 2.5 yo son.

It's very hard to figure out how much to share. I could write a small novel.

I am so sorry. It's horrible when they hurt the kids. I am glad you're looking into support for them. Once I got over the loss of my marriage, dealing with the emotional damage to my older child has been the hardest part. My advice would be not to struggle to keep your ex involved in your kids' lives more than he tries to be. It's terribly painful but I have come to believe that less back-and-forth is better for the kids, especially if the ex is going to eventually disappear altogether.

Of course it's hard to be the only parent because these two little beings (I also have two) need every moment of your time and attention. I haven't had much "me time" in the past few years and I'm looking at a few more years of being overextended and underfulfilled. It can be very lonely. But it's so great to be the decision maker, the one person who gets to soak up all the love and smooches from your little ones.
