Shakespeare in a nutshell

My 17 year old' s take on Othello and Shakespeare in general.

Son: We just finished reading Othello.

Me: I loved Othello. What did you think?

Son: It sucks to be Othello!

Me: ---

Son: Face it, if Shakespeare put you in the title, Hamlet, King Lear, Julius Ceaser, it sucked to be you.

I don't know where he comes up with this stuff! But it is true. Actually, I think his teacher might find it funny if he left off the "sucked" part.

I liked Othello too, probably moreso that the others, except Macbeth. That was the most messed up story/play ever!

Yeah,he is pretty quick on his feet. But sometimes the mouth get in the way. Isn't that true with all of us!

I AM glad HP wasn't written by Shakespeare or Harry would have died seven times over. (...um... wait, Snape did die... and Sirius too... and several people from the Order... huh)

I think JKR might have channeling a bit of the Bard during some of the books. At least when harry "died" he came back.

Well, yes. If you see it as a purely mathematical problem then he needs to die at least seven times and he is only past 2 as of yet.

But if he used the word "sucked" and knowing my son he would have, he would have sent to the principal's office for swearing! Actually, I think his teacher would have gotten a laugh.
