This is the worst thing ever. So many people have died and are going to die. This morning they are saying that the entire city could be submerged within hours. There are 20,000 people in the Superdome with no A/C and limited food or water. No power, no phones, the water all around the trapped people is undrinkable...it goes on and on ( Read more... )

Totally agreed. At my work we started a donation bucket and are trying to get the kids involved. (even though they have very little money themselves)

The mandatory evacuation was not to the stadium. Idiots that didn't leave, or people that were financially unable to leave were rounded up by police or volunteered to go to the stadium.

Who the hell is making jokes about this?

In all fairness, they built a city below sea level, this disaster was, while unfortunate, certainly predictable.

And before ya'll start screaming, my now homeless brother has been in Memphis since the evacuation Sunday.

No one is making jokes yet, but knowing some people who post on here, it was a preemptive strike.

I've been watching this all morning, it's absolutely insane. I can't imagine what I can do besides donate, but I'd like to be doing more. It puts shit in perspective very quickly.

No offense, but I think peoples lives are much more important than the animals. I have two dogs I love dearly and I am a total dork over, but given the choice between them and a human life... I sure don't like the idea of lots of dead and injured animals, but the real help is needed for the human beings without food, water, shelter, etc.

No offense, but I think criticizing how people choose to help is counter-productive.

You're right. It was not intended as a criticism, but you're right.
