Well. Congratulations to the deities for making us all look like fools yet again. I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like people bidding on others as if they were common property

Er...as far as that goes, please feel no obligation. I cannot actually pay you the agreed amount, as I think I must return the, er, payment back to where it came from. I was cursed, I think, and really it did not technically belong to me, as such.

Castiel isn't quite used to having to approach people by walking up to them; teleportation had be much more convenient. He's a little cranky to start with, having had to make his way out near the water that seems to give him some peace even now, but the sight of Menolly and her friends is enough to pique his interest.
He approaches, awkwardly direct and obviously scrutinizing the scene before him, in plain sight. He's just not all that used to having to say hello and introduce himself, despite his blatant curiosity.
The dragons notice him before Menolly does, their jewel toned heads rising to watch him as he approaches. Their motion alerts Menolly and it takes just a moment for her to assess their mood. If he means them, or her, harm, either he's hiding it well, or she's just not reading it in her friends' posture. Still, a girl should be polite until such things are decided, yes? Her fingers still as she glances over at the newcomer, smiling.
He's used to a lot of things, not only from experience at home but from what he's seen in the City, too. Small dragons are not among them. It takes him a moment to answer and when he does, he doesn't sound all that sure of himself.
"The water is calming." He finally turns his gaze from the dragons to focus on Menolly. Before he'd become human, talking to anyone hadn't really been something he cared to do. But a girl playing music with her pet dragons had to have something interesting to say.
The dragons seem as fascinated by him as he is of them, their curiosity thrumming along the bond she shares with them. The little golden female shakes the water from her wings before she flutters over to settle on Menolly's shoulder, chirping at him even as the young woman raises her hand to stroke along the dragonette's neck.
"It is, among other things. I try to find time to practice down here as often as possible."
