4th Beat [Video] WARNING: CONTAINS CHARACTER DEATH AND VIOLENCE
[Hey guys! Remember that furry douchebag who just showed up who just caused the whole station to flip the fuck out?]
[Well... this is not him! This is Bro's wearable, with a live video feed! From the way it looks, Bro JUST exited the teleporter in Garden Zone 12. As the station still thinks its winter, there is snow falling at this elevation through the night air. A low rumbling sound fills the background.]
[You can hear the engine of the rocketboard change as Bro drops out of the air and... hovers just above the ash-snow mixture down the side of the mountain, until he gets to a large open plateau. This area has only a light dusting of hard packed snow and ash, maybe only an inch or so. Bro kicks off the rocket board and leaves it where it is. ]
[He then gives a long look at the camera. He doesn't say anything, and his expression is inscrutable - he just looks, before tossing it to the side almost casually. After some nauseating jittercam, it lands right-side up, giving you a pretty clear view of the battlefield. In the distance, the Zone 12 volcano is spewing a pretty spectacular lava plume, bathing the whole area in lurid red light; occasionally, breaks in the clouds let the false moonlight shine through, cutting the red with silver.]
[Davesprite arrives in a flurry of feathers and rage, adding an orange glow to the scene. He doesn't speak either - they both just stand there, as though waiting.]
[And then... there's the furry douchebag. There's nothing to herald his arrival, no flash of light (save for his own natural green glow), no toll of bells. It is as if he has been there all along. No sooner do his paws touch the snow than do all three of them spring into action.]
[And oh, the action. It is, in fact, faster than the human eye can follow if you're watching it at full speed. It seems to be mostly a blur of motion, black, green, white, red, and orange, a flickering interplay of light and shadow as the sprite, the demon, and the man move. Bro whips out his puppet and this adds what looks like a fourth player to the mix.]
[But no matter how quick Bro and Davesprite are, it's clear that Jack is just plain faster. Slowing down the footage lets you see Bro and Davesprite, but Jack remains a flickering black and green blurr. It is literally taking all of Bro's speed just to parry the attacks. Counterattacks are out of the question. Eventually he simply drops Lil Cal, the puppet useless as misdirection, and focuses on not dying.]
[To his credit, Bro still stays completely expressionless, almost stoically so. From what little you can see, anyway. At least, up until one moment.]
[That being when Davesprite gets cleaved clean in half.]
[The kid's face is turned away from the camera, so his expression isn't visible when this happens. But the whole battlefield seems to pause, and then Davesprite just evaporates, turning into what looks like pixels and a cloud of orange feathers that mingle with the ash and snow.]
[That's when Bro's composure breaks.]
Dave!
[It would already have been easy for Jack with Davesprite gone, but this just makes it a cakewalk. He's already in front of Bro, already hoisting the man by the front of his shirt and then throwing him across the battlefield like tossing a rag doll. Bro hits a large stone at one end, and there's a sickening crack. Puppet and sword fall out of his hands.]
[He tries to push himself to his feet, but it's fairly clear that something's been twisted, if not outright broken. And Jack is already in front of him, already Jack is picking up Bro's sword.]
"Strike two."
[And then Jack drives the sword straight through Bro's chest, pinning him to the ground.]
[That done, Jack leans over, then takes Bro's sunglases off the man's face, before putting them on. He also picks up Lil Cal.]
[The whole fight takes less than five minutes.]
[And then he's gone, as though he never was. The live feed, however, keeps rolling, because no one bothered to turn it off. The image is simply this, as snow and ash continue to fall:
