[The video feed seems to start abruptly out of the middle of whatever is going on although just what is occurring is, at first, hard to distinguish. But then things begin to come into focus as the camera compensates for the odd angle and a viewer can make out a large black lump lying on the floor that is presumably the wearable's owner ( Read more... )

[Rinzler, you depress Flynn more than the rest of the programs put together.]

What was that?

[He knows asking if Rinzler's all right won't get him anywhere, but a specific question has a higher chance of working. Lying was never one of Tron's strong suits, and he doubts Rinzler's any better at it.]

[Rinzler is the worst liar. It's programmed into him on two basic levels: one through Alan's honesty policy, the other Clu's obedience directive.]

Old data.

[But he is capable of short, clipped responses that don't answer much until pressed long enough.]

[Fine. He'll play that game, despite Rinzler's best attempts to prevent Flynn from helping him.]

What sort of old data?

[Because program, that ain't normal, no matter what Clu told you.]

[Clu's words mean more to him. :\]

Does this happen to you a lot?

[Rinzler is lucky questions aren't discs, or a dodge that weak would see him reduced to his pixels.]

All right, fine. How frequently does this happen to you?

71.8% of total downcycle time.

[Flynn's shock and dismay make it through his self-control for a moment before he schools his expression back to neutrality.]

...I see.

Inconsequential.

[Whatever helps you sleep at night--oh wait.]

No. No, it's not inconsequential.

[He sounds resigned, not expecting Rinzler to believe him.]

No factor on functionality. No lingering affects. Easily dismissed and forgotten.

[Which should probably be impossible for a program so apparently he doesn't remember much after the fact.]

Oh? You make a habit of forgetting things?

[Programs can't forget without someone hitting the delete button. It's all on the disc.]

Or is it just all getting dumped somewhere you haven't got the permissions for?

[Rrr?]

...un..known. No viable information. Recompiles are not meant to be remembered. Simple repairs and rearrangement of extraneous information. [But, you know this. You're a User.] Why should it accessible? Would damage program.

The maintenance routines during your downcycles shouldn't be affecting you at all. But something in there is.

[Flynn will take "Clu's glitchy code workarounds" for $200, Alex.]

Not. effecting. functionality.

[He says it slow just in case you didn't hear him the first time.]
