There's nothing out there. Stay inside. Her mother whispers, a single leg patting her head and running through her hair. She can almost feel it, a trick of the mind. Her mother is dead and she knows that. This is a trick.
Kanaya grits her teeth and screws her eyes shut, calmly exhaling through her nose. She opens her eyes calmly, relaxes her jaw and stares ahead resolutely.
"You're not here."
