A crush is the first time a person realizes they like another person more than friends. "Crushing on" someone is an English phrase to say it a bit more emphatically - because it's the gerund form of the verb, to signify an ongoing activity. So perhaps this person thinks about the crush every day, and can't get it off their mind.
