More Magic and lack of Academic Drive

Magic Shenanigans, and me being an irresponsible student, under the cut:

So... I got my financial aid money all straightened out today. It was exciting, not being so incredibly poor. Wheee. So I bought my back issues of comics, got some friends some late birthday presents, and settled in for a night of reading The Last Battle (Ugh!) or New Grub Street (Victorian Ugh!). Now, I don't have to have any length of these books done until Thursday, and my teachers encourage the online summaries to get pieces, and specific reading based on a syllabus, but I had nothing else to do after my comics... so I might as well be a good student. Of course, after last week's course load, and being ill all weekend, I really just wanted to let off some steam. Even the party I went to over the weekend was filled with drama and tension, coloring the whole night. So, as I prepared to face my lengthy books, Evan calls me. "Want to draft with me and a friend?" the friend in question being a kid I took some philosophy classes with, Eric, who I had no idea played Magic. "We're going to a new place, Fortress. Ten dollar draft, five packs to the first place." "Sure, why not."
Because... I had money (check!) I needed to blow off steam (check!!) and I loves me some draft (!!!). Also, as I'm hoping to go home this weekend, I won't get my magic-fix at the pre release like everyone else, ever.
We trekked out to the middle of nowhere, and entered a charming store with leather office chairs, recliners, and a Max setting A/C unit. The shop people were friendly, and for the most part so were the players. This was far more casual than the usual store draft.
Evan didn't want his new cards, so I sponsored him for the draft, claiming ownership of any of his take.
Money Spent 21$ (20 on draft entries, 1 on a soda. Orange Crush, if you must know.)
then.... we drafted.
I drafted a mono-green persist wither deck. I went without a loss through the first three rounds, making it to the top of our 9 man draft. I lost one match, but came out ahead against the red green aggros match.
Total cards recieved: 11 packs (or roungly 40$).
And now I have a rep at a new store. Win.
