Kurt Hummel didn’t realize the accidental jackpot he was going to stumble upon when he asked his step-brother if he could use his laptop. Leave his trusty Macbook to die on him when he had a huge paper to complete. How was he going to chronicle the history of the Versace line if he couldn’t even get on the internet to use Google images and find pictures of the fabulous clothing? It was, in short, a disaster.

Little did he know that his brother would provide quite the distraction from his paper, so that he’d end up doing it all in a rush the night before it was due anyways.

It was an accident, honestly. He’d been using the Control, shift functions and copying information back and forth while he typed, and he happened to hit the wrong key and bring up Finn’s browsing history. The first page that wasn’t schoolwork was Rachel Berry’s Myspace page.

Honestly, it was an abomination that Rachel still had a Myspace page - everyone had abandoned that corner of the world for Tumblr ages ago, but leave it to Rachel to be behind on the blogging times. The girl did think that knee socks and animal sweaters were fashionable, after all. Out of curiosity, Kurt clicked the link and noted that the page was a video update of Rachel singing a song by Les Miserables. It had two views. His view now, and Finn’s, he surmised, since the page had been visited once before. “Well, well, isn’t this interesting,” Kurt mused, looking over the history from the day before.

Rachel’s myspace page was there again (six times, which meant that his brother had viewed six different entries), some google search about songwriting, Twistys.com, which turned out to be something entirely different than what Kurt thought it was going to be, and a livejournal page. “Livejournal?” he questioned, furrowing his perfectly waxed brows as he clicked on the page.

“Well hello to the private musings of Finn Hudson,” Kurt smirked, arching an eyebrow at some of the tags on the page. Horny!finn was not something that Kurt ever really wanted to see. Well, he had wanted to see it at one time, but now that would just be creepy because they were brothers and he was totally into Blaine anyways.

Morbid curiosity caused him to click the first entry. Typical, rambling Finn, who neglected to use any sort of capitalization (quel horreur!) in his entries. But it was also stupidly charming the way that he had decided to write down his feelings as a present. Leave it to Finn to be completely adorable.

If morbid curiosity drove him to the first entry, amusement drove him to the second and Kurt was reading through his brother’s journal before he even realized it. Surprisingly, Finn had kept true to his word to write every day for over six months. Sometimes it was just a sentence, sometimes it was more than that, but all of it was typical Finn and all of it was him fawning over Rachel.

Well, except for the breakup part. Then everything started to get rather sparce, and Finn’s attitude started to change. There were mentions of Quinn Fabray, and making out with her  (no wonder why she had ended up with mono - Kurt knew that that gumball story was absolutely ridiculous), but Finn’s most recent entries were back to mentioning lots about Rachel, and wanting to get back together with her.

As his luck would have it, as he was reading the last entry, Finn walked into the room. “Hey, what are you doing?” the taller boy inquired, reaching for his laptop.

“You can really be quite poetic when you want to be, I’m surprised,” Kurt chuckled, shaking his head as Finn snatched the laptop from him.

“Dude, I said you could use my laptop to do your homework, I didn’t say you could go through and check what I’m doing on my own computer,” Finn growled, clearly unhappy.

“It was an accident. I happened to press the wrong key and your browsing history came up. Let that be a lesson to clear it out daily like I do,” Kurt replied, looking down at his nails absentmindedly. “There’s quite a lot about Rachel in there. I wonder what would happen if she found out about that.”

“Dude, no you cannot show her my journal,” Finn begged, the tone of his voice instantly changing to worry.

“Call me dude one more time and I’ll text her the link,” Kurt assured him, pulling out his phone just to prove a point.

“Alright, sorry,” Finn sighed, shaking his head as he turned off his Macbook.

“So, why were you so willing to let me use your Macbook anyways? You’re usually attached at the hip,” Kurt noted, tilting his head to the side as he crossed one leg over the other.

“Yeah, Rachel’s having a party so I’m not gonna be home tonight. She invited me and I volunteered to be a designated driver so-“

“So you don’t tell her that you’re still madly in love with her, right,” Kurt nodded, before furrowing his brows again. “Wait, why wasn’t I informed of this party?”

“Rachel said that because you and Blaine are on a competing team at regionals, you two might work us to try and get information,” Finn shrugged, setting the laptop next to him on his bed.

“That is preposterous! We would never have to cheat to win, though it’s flattering that she’s obviously that threatened by us,” Kurt laughed. “But I want to go. If for no reason but to see the disaster that this is going to turn out to be. You should bring Blaine and I.”

“I can’t do that. Rachel will be pissed at me, Kurt. You know that,” Finn sighed, shaking his head.

“If you don’t go, I’ll show her the journal,” Kurt countered, crossing his arms over his chest as he arched an eyebrow at his brother.

“You wouldn’t!” Finn protested, gawking at him.

“Try me,” Kurt smirked, getting up from his chair.

“Where are you going?” Finn inquired, brows furrowing in confusion.

“To call Blaine and pick out an outfit - even if this party is going to be a disaster, I still have to look flawless,” Kurt replied, humming happily to himself as he ran down the stairs to his room.

He was still going to tell Rachel anyways, just not that night.
