Movies are Awesome

I will be hosting a movie day on Sunday May 23rd in honor of my birthday. Instead of doing 24 hours this year, I realize that there's about 12 hours of movies i really want to show, and then a 2 hour barbecue!

Schedules will be made available, but for one of the movies, I believe VIEWERS SHOULD MAKE THE CALL :

Since I haven't managed to see JCVD yet, I don't feel that I can justify the vote in good faith.

That said, Black Dynamite may very well be the awesomest movie made in the last five years.

I have seen JCVD, and while it's good, it isn't the giant bucket of fried chicken & malt liquor awesome that Black Dynamite is. It won the Seattle Independant Film Fest viewers choice and I think it should win here as well.

In JCVD he is only caught in a robbery and is assumed to be tge culprit. It is Van Damme's best acting and the only one of his films certified fresh on rotten tomatoes...

However...

Black Dynamite beat out the 6 academy award winning film, The Hurt Locker, at SIFF. It is shot on original super 16 color reversal kodak 16mm film for that authentic feel (no Grindhouse post shot effects). Roger Ebert even said it "brings back much-needed gratuitous nudity."
Arsenio Hall plays a pimp named Tasty Freeze... come on!

I have seen JCVD. It is excellent in its own way. That said I expect that Black Dynamite is far more awesome.
