I love my Toshiba Satellite. It has a 12-cell battery that gives me around 7 hours of battery life.

This one is the closest to, if not the same, model that I purchased around a year ago.

I'd be happy to bring my computer over sometime for you to kick the battery or just generally poke around.

I should add that I am able to do all of those things you'd like to be able to do with your laptop.

Except I don't know what a gaming database is. If you do want to play WOW or other graphic intensive games, this probably isn't the right laptop because the graphics card is meh.

I just got an XPS 15 for ~$1200 based on comments on my recent post, and have been very happy with it for 4 days I've had it so far. If you're interested in getting a Dell, one thing I would point out (that I discovered accidentally) is many of the models have package deals that are cheaper than getting the exact same computer through the build-your-own interface. Mine was ~$20 cheaper than the one I had put together, despite having several improvements over my assembled model.
