I really liked the first shot you gave this, but the re-write is great! It flows better, and fits the limmerick style a lot better. :)

Doesn't hurt either that my name is Daniel and I have 2 beagles ;)

Really, honestly, I was at a loss for a 2 syllable name that might be appropriate- I though of my friend Daniel- and that in a sing-song way it would match up with the other rhyme words.
I'm certainly pleased that you identified with it, and appreciate the rewrite.
