I would rather not speak of the dinner with the Malfoys as it is something I would think most people would wish to blot out from their memories for it was not a particularly enjoyable experience. If Madam Hooch had not been there, I would have tried to find a polite way to excuse myself immediately.
The decor in that house simply makes me cringe with embarrassment for the rest of the family who has been submitted to the unique stylings of Narcissa Malfoy all their lives. She seems quite fond of putting green and red together and while this works during christmas, it is simply not a combination that should be used at any other time of the season.
However, I must say Mrs. Malfoy did have wonderful dress robes. It is unfortunate that her body type simply could not carry it off. Now Mrs. Malfoy often tries to pass off her build as "willowy" or "slender" but in reality, her body is nothing so flattering. A better choice of words would include "beanpole" and "toothpick." The woman simply has no curves whatsoever on her body that I almost pity her. I realize that previously I had been unfairly angry for her insulting comments about my hips when I now understand she was only jealous.
I hate to say it (but as this *is* my personal journal and it is not something particularly vulgar), I do believe I saw pieces of *tissue* protruding out the front of Mrs. Malfoy's robes. The poor dear.
However, the worst part of dinner was trying to carry on a conversation with her. Pretty though she may be, there is simply not much in that head of hers. I tried to discuss literature, music, and even current events, but Mrs. Malfoy simply could not follow. Instead she kept changing the discussion back to her son and to her home. I do believe that between Madam Hooch and myself we discussed the decor of every single room in the manor. This is quite an exhausting feat and one I never wish to relive.
