Man, I went and checked him out after you mentioned him to me, and he is so A++++++. The first one I came across was his video about the "no homo" phenomenon, and it was so awesome.

Also, JFC I hate hipster-ironic racism. If there are still enough people who genuinely mean it when they say that shit that a stranger wouldn't be able to tell if you're being ~ironic~ or not, then you're not proving anything. You're just being a dick.

I don't like it either for the reasons you just said. There's too many people who are serious when they tell me shit about my own heritage for me to find it "funny" or amusing. America, we're not there yet okay? We probably won't be for a very long time.

The video's about how, while a lot of people tend to assume it's okay to make jokes aimed at everyone that's a minority because some of us have a sense of humor, generally it's not a good idea because we're just not there yet in terms of our interactions. It started because a white rapper named Asher Roth made a comment (possibly to make fun of Don Imus) about hanging with "nappy headed hos" and the storm that happened after. Jay Smooth basically says he's pretty sure Roth isn't a racist, but he really should have thought twice about a) race relations in general and b) specific race relations where you're a white dude in a predominantly black industy before he said that because that is a phrase with a loaded connotation and it's not really cool to be calling people that unless you know for a fact they won't be offended. (Roth did apologize btw.)

I just always said jury-rigged or MacGuyvered. Everyone knows what it means when you MacGuyver something. And since usually there is duct tape involved, it's not inaccurate.

I still have no idea who Asher Roth is. I'm assuming that he's some sort of "bro" fratboy white rapper, just based on the album cover shown in this video.

Without even hearing his music, I'm going to bet that the guy in this video is way cooler than him.

I agree. The ironic hipster humor thing I absolutely cannot stand. It's so pointless and irritating.

I'm guessing he is a white fratboy rapper, I've heard the name but not the music if that makes sense.
