That is a wonderful drawing. If I were to draw a picture of myself nude, it would look pretty much like a picture of myself clothed. That's the virtue of stick figures. It was a very interesting idea to include the text over the image. Is the text a complete quote from a magazine, or did you use various fragments which you put together?
Thank you! I drew it just before this breakup last year, and it was very much an.... "I feel vulnerable and sad and fat and ashamed," sort of thing, but I also like it just as it is with more objective eyes later.
The text is random fragments, so the phrases aren't original, but the arrangement is. They're all from a Guideposts magazine - which if you haven't heard of it, is a Christian sort of.... confessional/uplifting type of magazine. I had no idea what sort of text I was going to go with, so went through 3 or 4 stories and pulled those phrases out and in this very bizarre way, they fit. I had 2 or 3 more cut out that didn't fit - it would've had to be much longer to wedge them, so I went with simplicity!
Thank you so much!! I've been trying hard with poetry, not in the sense of writing a bunch of poems, but trying to figure poetry out. One I wrote for Idol before, which people quite liked, I actually sent to a friend who's a poetry professor, and he basically said it came off like a snippet of prose which isn't so bad, but I might need to engage my emotions more. Which to me is no good because emotions are scary and hidden ;) Somehow having an image first then using words to illustrate its meaning is easier for me.
