Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Their arrangement proved to be a success; William returned from school each day, buzzing with the boisterous joy of youth straight to his favourite room of the house-Jack’s room. He’d throw the door open wide, his hand clutching a crinkled piece of parchment that contained the latest exercises in Latin torture from Master Pinch’s devious ( Read more... )

DAMN! Jack knows what buttons to push and exactly when to push them! It must be love ;)

Poor boy, he's slick but just not enough years on him to know better! BUSTED!LOL

Thanks for the review :)

You know, all is fair in love and fighting, so they must be related somehow ;) And I don't think Jack and Lizzie would fight that much if they didn't care about each other!

William is by no means Jack's equal - not yet, that is! He's working on it ;)

Very nice chapter. I had a good laugh with the gladiators' salute and Elisabeth's entrance. Very funny scene!

Can't wait to read more of this!

Thanks, glad you liked it ;)
There is a French comic series in Europe called "Asterix", which is set in Roman times, and they use the "morituri te salutant" line pretty often in funny situation - that's where I got the idea from!
BTW, your avatar is great ;)

Oh yeap, I am a fun of Asterix know the series since I was child. It was the best, funniest series of all times! Great idea to make that connection with Jack, he does indeed fit in this particular comic!
Thanks for the icon-comment... yeap it makes my day whenever I use it!

Yay - another Asterix-fan ... actually, I got inspired because I just re-read the whole series and always laughed out loud at the ill-fated pirates; everytime they get a new ship, either the Gauls or the Romans sink it ;) Reminded me a bit of Jack, who always loses the Pearl as soon as he gets her back.

Are you from Europe, btw?

Poor Jack just can't help himself! Deceit just comes as natural as some people breathe!

Typical that he would get himself midway through a play (better to say, accord) and then begin to consider the rammifications of said agreement.

William is Jack's constant ploy, and hasn't the benefit of age to know he's being used...and played.

Elizabeth should be a little more sympathetic to Jack's plight. She's known him well enough to know that no one ever changes...how can she possible be surprised? Annoyed, yes, surprised, no!

I liked the bit about Williams' interest in his parents history. Every child is curious, but often the curiousity wears thin before the full details are ever reached. At age ten, about the time the romance part of the story would be related, he'd quite listening. No child wants to hear about his parent's romance. Yuk!

Another chapter that brings a smile to the face.

Lovely!!.....Kerry

BTW: You've been a bit quiet, me luv.

Hi Kerry,

I am sorry for doing my name justice these days. I just started a new job which keeps me busy, especially since I am also working on several articles, but from next week, my schedule will be less hectic than it is at the moment. For the past two weeks or so, I hardly got the time to read fanfic or even get online, so I suppose I missed quite a lot - I will try to catch up with it, I promise. I'll sent you an E-mail later today or tomorrow :)

But now on to your lovely review - thanks a lot, dear!

Elizabeth should be a little more sympathetic to Jack's plight. She's known him well enough to know that no one ever changes...how can she possible be surprised? Annoyed, yes, surprised, no!Well, you may be right here, but when I wrote this, I tried to consider several things. First of all, Elizabeth doesn't know how she feels about Jack - and she doesn't want to ponder her feelings for him anytime soon but rather get rid of him. Then, Jack and Lizzie have quite a troubled past, and you have to admit that especially towards her, ( ... )

Thanks for commenting here as well!

We're glad you like it so much; we're trying to keep it funny and entertaining, even though I can promise that there's a lot more angst to come in the upcoming chapter(s).

And just when you think the bickering has settled..*laughs*

Excellent chapter! I really love how Jack - though unwilling to admit - enjoys his time with William. I highly doubt he would be like any regular child with traits from such infamous parents; he's gotta have some spunk to him ;) & Oh, how Jack-like to have him grow a conscience mid-plan!

I have to say, when Elizabeth came through the door I was in tears laughing. It seems they just cannot seem to stop arguing! Even when they thought things were fine, it was just an illusion. Me-thinks that all the cards need to be put on the table, or else I don't think they'll be able to last much longer! haha

I'm happy to report that my scanner is going in for surgery in a few days and should be back by the end of next week. I am so sorry for the delay, but at least by then I'll finish up another picture from this chapter in fact and have two surprises for you, then :)

I beg of you, update soon! :D

Hi!

Good to hear your scanner is going in for surgery - hopefully, Billy the Butcher has no hand in repairing it ;) I am totally looking forward to your artwork; it's such a wonderful addition to the story and so very well done!

We're glad you're enyoing the J/E bickering; granted, they're a sweet couple, but to have them arguing is so much more entertaining than just have them exchange platitudes and kisses ... not to say the latter can't be great as well ;)

If there'll ever come a day when all the games come to an end and they both come to see the other for who they really are, remains to be seen - or rather: read!

Stay tuned!
Anne

Oh please, I do hope they eventually stop fighting...it is funny, but hurtful also. love this fic, it is wonderful. I really wanted to say something after every chapter(I have been reading for 5 hours now) but something is really wrong with my computer and it takes about 8 minutes to post a comment and get back to the story, and I am too into it to wait that long in between each chapter! The artwork from Gea_luv and yourself is beautiful! Some of the best I've seen yet...

Hi!

Thank you so much for your comments. So sorry for not having gotten back to you sooner. Ladysilent and I are thrilled that you've come aboard for the journey and that you're enjoying the ride thus far. We're on a bit of a hiatus at the moment due to the overwhelming demands of the non-fiction world, but we'll be back in action in the not so distant future.

Thanks for reading and for the feedback.

Stay tuned for an update!
