I had a pretty bad surprise this morning -- I may have to pointlessly delay starting my dissertation for a semester while I wait to retake the Spanish translation exam -- but I think I'm just about over it. I really cannot overstate the importance of ramen and grape soda for my mental well-being.

First:
I have to finish up and polish my bigbang, even though at this point I just want to stomp it to death. I sent it in a few days early, so I have another month to pound out seven scenes and make it interesting.
Second:
There's a sexswap bigbang community,
genderbendbb. I signed up, and I've already started writing the story. I'm writing Travis/Matt where Travis is turned into a girl while on tour.
Third:
That Jepha/Dan orgasm denial fic I promised
apiphile. I am hoping that it will be prime bait for more
Thursday-verse because I AM OBSESSED.
Fourth:
I'm working on an original romance for
violin_road, about two Mormons on mission who fall in love. Pining pining pining pining dryhumping the end.
Variously thereafter:
I plan on writing incredibly schmoopy domestic Frank/Gerard, some hopelessly cheerful Pete/Joe, and a ridiculously long incredibly canonical Bert/Quinn story of doom.
It was good to write that post the other day about who fanfiction authors are trying to please. Two of the above stories are "for" other people, but edging is a brand-new white-hot kink of mine, and religious repression is a long-standing love. I made myself a little list of the stories I have been wanting to see, anyway, and challenged myself to at least try to write them all. There's a post-it on my wall! That means it's official!

Even though my excitement was radically undercut by the news about the translation exam, I still finished my comprehensive exams yesterday. Tangle is taking me out for drinks tonight to celebrate, so I have to go gussy up (she clutches her pearls and wails if I show my face outside without at least a little lipstick).
Another quick upside before I flee, though: even if this instance of fail turns into a train of fail, and I bombed my comprehensive exams, I really enjoyed writing them. Forty-nine typed double-spaced pages in twelve hours! Most of them were coherent English! That ain't half bad.
Shit, also: I've dropped a lot of websites that I used to read regularly, and for the past two weeks I haven't really gotten a chance to read my friendslist. If there's something you'd like me to know, don't be shy about mentioning it. Major life events, fic, whatever, hit me up.
