I am so pleased to see this - if anything, your, um, sabbatical, has smoothed your writing out even more.
What I like about this series is the portrayal of the characters, and how you expand canon in interesting ways. Hiyoshi's father is a card - not what I would have pictured, but it works.
...do you know how flattering it is to have you, of all people, telling me that my writing has smoothed out? *laugh* I don't know that it feels any different to me, but goodness, if it seems that way to you, I'd better figure out what's changed! *laugh*
And thank you so much--I'm always nervous about introducing yet more characters into so-called 'canon.' ^^;
I like Hiyoshi's dad. He reminds me of my old sensei, the one who waxes eloquent about Okinawa and thinks it's funny to throw people through the wall into the restaurant next door.
Mari doesn't seem to be any different -- she still thinks a lot, about everything. I also liked Hiyoshi's point of view.
I really like your sensei. *giggles* It's sort of funny that he waxes eloquent about Okinawa--odd coincidence, but kobujutsu is an Okinawan martial art.
I adore you, you know? I can't believe you actually replied to every single part of this! <3!

As always, love for Mari. She's so REAL.
