I responded, but it's not showing up, so here goes a slightly altered version.
I totally agree with you on all of this. My friends here will sit here and argue with me until they are blue in the face about how "America was built on Christian beliefs, so gay marriages should not be allowed blah zee blah," but what about fuckin' separation of church and state? Why is it that they take the Bible so literally and don't want to go against anything in there, but when it comes to the Constitution, they want to change things whenever they want to ban something they disagree with? It's bullshit, and that's my 2 cents :P

heh. sometimes i wanna thump these people down and make 'em read a few good biographies on the founding fathers. one of the conservative old men at work is reading a biography of ben franklin right now, and i laugh my ass off everytime he's stunned by old ben's sexual hijinks. grrr. stupid american school system patriotic dumbed down history classes.
i'm almost tempted to get into a rolicking discussion about all this with my mum - despite (or maybe beCAUSE of) being fundamentalist, she's always been verrrry firm on the seperation of church and state. i suspect the word 'marriage' might throw her, though.
fucking 'UNDER GOD' didn't make it into the pledge of allegiance until 1954, assholes!

Oh, I know. I love what a big deal people were making when Pepsi printed those cans with the pledge on them (minus the "under God" part). People all boycotting Pepsi. Dumbasses

Oh, lord...Franklin was a dirty old man, for sure. I'm surprised more people don't know that...did they get all of their information from textbooks? Haven't they ever read any of his quotes...?
