Thank you Elly the Elephant on prompting me to do a post. I do browse live journal to catch up on my friends list, but I never got in to the habit of making regular posts ( Read more... )

We use telewest who have been ok so far. Don't know if they are national or just west midlands though. What sort of engineering is it? Computers?

telewest and ntl are now the same company, so I wish you well. In truth I've only had a couple of problems in the 5 and 1/2 years I've been with them (the other was when Liverpool were playing in the Champions League final and were 3-0 down and then the tele signal went). More a point of resentment is that I'm paying £47 a month for what new customers pay £30, so when I don't get the service I'm overpaying for, then that makes me a little miffed.

The Engineering is computer-ish. More electronics, but systems engineering can also apply to 'soft' systems made up of people. Schools, hospitals etc, in how they work as a whole to provide a service.

Markyate is on the A5, on the other side of Luton from Hitchin, up from Junction 9 of the M1. That any help?

I think Freeview is the way forward - the main channels I watch are on it already, and I can only see it getting bigger. I can't wait to tell ntl to stuff it up their jacksies - I'll have to record the conversation so I can play it back to cheer me up if ever I get a bit depressed ;o).

This is it I assume? I like the conservatory, and a nice garden too.

Show off Mr-Clever-Link-In-Live Journal! That is the one. The garden is pretty mediocre in real life, but that's all I want. After seeing one that was 180ft long, it made me appreciate something more manageable, but the conservatory is superb and put in by the current owners over the last few years.

the new house looks lovely, especially the conservatory :-).
I am very jealous of everyone who has any kind of extra tv channels as I am limited to terrestial. It's a hard knock life!

But for the period when my tv was off, because I don't have a normal aerial cable that fits, you had 5 more tv channels than I did... Have you thought about getting Freeview - a box is only £40 or so?

I did think of it but then I decided that if I had one I would never finish my thesis! Then when I finished it wasn't really worth buying one because I'll be moving out in October to live with Rhi and Ian. If their box breaks you will be 'treated' to a very angry and emotional outburst!

By the way, congratulations on becoming a Doctor.

A man went to the doctor, and the doctor asked him where it hurt. The man pointed at ten totally different parts of his body. The doctor replied that the diagnosis is easy - 'You've broken your finger.'

I thank you.
