Don't know how widely this will be read by my newfound friends, but obviously I will keep it nice just in case they remember/find out who my log in is

Doing a quick scout of your friendslist for names I don't recognise, and using the lj link toy, I find that jiggery_pokery knows pseudomonas (who I first met at randomchris and ashfae's wedding); and dramawench knows roz_mclure who was at the most recent bardcamp. So yes, small world. :)

I thought we got invited to a Stag Do/House con about 18 months ago through the Yahoo User Groups... But if news of Gordon's matrimonials comes as equal a shock to everyone else (as well as Gordon) as it does to you, then I am willing to stand corrected!
...whereas not all Brits are polite, well spoken, and behave like a befuddled Hugh Grant, despite what you might see in films. Whether or not over the course of a few days we were further evidence to the contrary to that stereotype I would of course value your opinion!
It was unfortunate that we didn't manage to show off our dancing skills. I had realised that what moves might be considered cool in the UK (obviously the Brits who were at the wedding are rated amongst the top 100 dancers in the UK), might not be what Americans are used to, and may look rubbish to the non-Anglo-Saxon eye...
And in respectful response, I've added you to my friends list.
As we discussed, I am not a frequent poster. I hope you are prepared for the possibility that in six months' time you will suddenly see strange musings coming out of the blue from a guy who spells loads of words like 'color' incorrectly...
I want to compliment you on your Eddie Izzard icon - that's superb.

Hang on a minute. Surely not the Big G? Mr Aikin himself?
Evidence, please.

And yes, all Americans are extremely friendly, intelligent and good-looking, despite what you might see on telly to persuade you otherwise.

Literally true, if you're prepared to accept tied places. (Possibly a large tie.)
So glad you could be there and I look forward to reading more from you over the weeks, months and years to come!
