so I leave in less than three weeks, and I still have so much that I have to do. It also doesn't help knowing what I'll be leaving behind

i just want you to know that i am paying attention, and i worry, i just don't know what to say. i'm hoping for the best possible outcome, and, as you know, you can't really live a day without seeing anything, really. so there's that.

I appreciate that. As far as the worry goes, the air force was my choice because of the very good odds of my not ever having to shoot at anyone, or get shot at for that matter. It is unfortunate that now things have gotten to the point where there is a good chance I will be deployed to iraq for a couple months at some point, but I certainly wouldn't be IN the cities - it would be more like me living and staying on base, working on planes. My biggest hope is that as a relatively moderate person, I might be able to have some influence over some of the younger kids. Or maybe I'm dreaming as far as that goes.

and yeah, one way or another, I'm sure regardless of what I end up doing, I'll walk away with all kinds of stories. I'm just hoping that those stories are more about europe, and not so much the middle east.
