U - it varies, depending on if I am having trouble writing that fic/chapter/a specific part. and can also depend on what the beta reader(s) may say. if they give evidence why a specific part won't work and I agree, I may pull/rewrite that part. I think the last time I did (for Hand of Wrath), one of my beta girls thought a large chunk of a scene with a main character's family member was unnecessary. I cut half of it but left what I felt was the important part.
AI - I've done it. But I don't do it for gratuitous reasons or because I hate a character and want to see them gone. there's usually a plot behind said death--or the death is not what it seems.
hahaha, I figured someone would--you just got here first ;)
there's good and there's bad. I've read it and I've written it (though mine is a lot softer than most people's--I call it romance-novel-style erotica cuz I focus more on the emotions than the act, usually). I don't have a problem with it and, as long as the parties reading it are of legal age in their country, they should have the right to read it.
i DO mind when it's given to minors (a rather infamous asshole in the Trek fandom did this to a former young friend of mine--basically fed her pornographic F/F and lied to her about the content). and i know it was a lie because the same person bashed me for not being interested in slash and gave me the same story with the same lie to try to get me to read it.
i also mind lazy parents who bitch at authors of smut because they catch their kids reading it. if minors sneak around and read it behind their parents' backs, then that's YOUR problem as a parent--not the writer's!
honestly, I don't care for the majority of crack-fic. maybe because most of it is poorly written or crosses the line from what is supposed to be good humor into bad taste. it's just not my thing.
N - I have not come across bad writing advice that I can remember.
M - to write for myself, not for others. I also like this gem from the late Anne McCaffrey: "Tell a story! Don’t try to impress your reader with style or vocabulary or neatly turned phrases. Tell the story first."
P - I honestly do not think I could limit myself to just one pairing. It would be far too difficult. Each ship that I love (including my OCs from Trek) has its angles and avenues to explore.
AL - again, I don't think I could narrow to just one because I've gotten a lot that have made my day (especially this summer when I had a lot of stress, getting a review brightened the day up), so I will instead spotlight a favorite reviewer: Scorp, who is a mod at the FFN forum I hang out at. she does long, meaty reviews and will often pick 5-10 specific moments/quotes that stick out to her and talk about why they made her enjoy reading the story/chapter. also if she is picking out stuff to suggest edits, she will do it politely and without demeaning the writer. some people can sound like professional editors without realizing that they do but Scorp makes sure her wording sounds polite.
random highlight from one of her reviews that I liked: (Wrath, chapter 7): Really think that how you portray Lucas in his entire scene was fantastic. I
