I'm not doing a big timeline of what happened this year, for the most part it blew. But here:
1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Moved away, started driving, learned to drive a canal boat.
2. Did you keep your New Year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't remember if I had any last year. This year's is to be healthier and happier.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes, my aunts.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
This year? I don't think so.
5. What countries did you visit?
France, Wales.
6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
Stability. Not in terms of life, I'm fairly secure, I'd just like to be more settled in myself.
7. What date from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Oh gosh, there are a few things but I don't know the dates of any of them really. Oh mind you, Latitude weekend was amazing. And was Chromeo this year or last?
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Starting university.
9. What was your biggest failure?
My temper.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Hah! Yes. Heart stuff again.
11. What were the best things you bought?
My laptop.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
This is a bit of a personal question as most people I know can read this. SO. The friends who stood by me, the family who stuck together, and my uni and tutors for delivering beyond what I would normally expect from a college.
13. Whose behavior appalled you?
Some old friends, some family.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Clothes, music, and food. I ate out a lot this year (lolol).
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Latitude, college, boat trip, my holiday in Cornwall, gigs.
16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Bruce Willis - Funtime.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier.
ii. thinner or fatter? Well I think a little bit thinner, although after Christmas it's very unlikely...
iii. richer or poorer? Poorer.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Excercising, studying, travelling.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Being angry feeling sorry for myself, eating, and spending!
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
At my parent's house with my family, although I'm meeting my friends on Boxing Day for drinks and things.
21. How will you be spending New Years?
I have no idea at the moment.
22. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Not this year!
23. How many one-night stands?
Zero.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
Doctor Who, Two Guys & a Girl, Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-Long Blog, Moonlighting.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Yep.
26. What was the best book you read?
The Time-Traveller's Wife.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Cut Copy
28. What did you want and get?
A place at uni, to quit my job, to leave Seaford.
29. What did you want and not get?
To smooth things over with old friends, more money, to fix my sleeping pattern, to sort my heart out.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
That's a tough one. I went to the cinema a lot. Maybe Cloverfield, except that I hated the romantic plotline in that one. Wall-E was really good too. I don't know really. I saw Howl's Moving Castle for the first time, and now I love it, so that's my personal favourite.
31. What did you do on your birthday?
Stayed up all night, then went to London with Kit and Lou on the actualy birthday day. Also had a joint party with Storm in the Cinque Ports.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Lots of things. This was a pretty sucky year if I'm honest.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
The same as always, in that there just isn't one. I wore more nice dresses, I dyed my hair red (it's dark again now), and I bought too many pairs of shoes and pants.
34. What kept you sane?
Work, wine and music.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Cheryl Cole.
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
The US election.
37. Who did you miss?
Friends who live far away, friends who aren't friends any more, and my sister, when she went to Greece.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
If the LAN was this year, then people from the LAN, ravers at Latitude, and the people on my course.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008?
Not to let things get on top of me. To stop taking on other people's problems as my own, and to look after myself more. And to always rely on myself first.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
One day we will die,
and our ashes will fly
from the aeroplane over the sea.
But for now we are young,
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see.
-Neutral Milk Hotel - Aeroplane Over the Sea
