I wish there were a polite way of going through every. single. comment. on every community post that I see in which commenters encourage losing weight and having something like those Surgeon General warnings for cigarette packs ( Read more... )

They probably thought you were being hyperbolic. Maybe if you [wikipedia]sited your sources[/wikipedia] it would help?

Hey there! I commented on your post in the Seattle community. I really admire how you didn't lose your cool when people were being all fat-hating and nasty. I could barely read the comments without spitting fire.

Anyway, I'd love to hear more about your doctor & your experiences with her, as well as her name. Thanks so much for being willing to share that with me!

People have so many misconceptions about fat and the Seattle LJ just likes being snarky and making assumptions!

The doctor I see is Angela Heithaus, at the Seattle Healing Arts Center. Although I don't know that she *entirely* agrees with my choice to not talk about weight, she's never mentioned it to me after I initially asked her not to do so. She's been very proactive about treating the issues that I've come to her with and I'm reasonably happy with her.
