What does it taste like, on its own? Vaguely grainy?

Kinda grainy, but no worse than a milkshake made with real ice cream. I am having the 1.5 version and found it as advertised: very neutral. It smells a little like pancake batter and there's definitely an undertone of flour in the flavor.

From what I've read, this is apparently a change from earlier versions that were a little tastier.
