Sometimes I forget how much it really sucks to try to worm your way into prominence in a kingdom. Making yourself visible at events is a pain, especially in hours you waste getting to and from, and the time you put into being there. I hope you have a lovely time in Japan. Obviously you'll be working and stuff, but it's a gorgeous country. Nic's going with you, I assume? Try to take her to Kyoto if you can. The temples there are absolutely fabulous. The opportunities for geeking out of the historical sort are nearly endless.

And hey, it's good to hear from you. One of the things I most like about LJ is that when I've got news, I can post it in one place instead of individually telling everyone I know.

Take lots of pictures, yeah?

Probably not going to get much past Okinawa. I'm going to make sure to check out the tunnels, at least. There simply won't be time for me to go over to the main islands for visiting (unless there are MWR trips!)

No, Nicole is not going, because it's only for 4 months.

I'll probably learn enough to make my way around. No reason to learn the whole language for four months.
