'twas the night before elections

'twas the night before elections

and all through the state

all politicians were running

on that one important date

Democrats and Republicans

had just settled down

from many a messy campaign

to win that illustrious crown

And I with my registration

had many days ago

cast my ballot for the ones I thought were best

at least by a toe.

and now sitting back

with election day in sight.

I hope the election is smooth

and not a Halloween fright.

Regardless of who wins

Republican or Democrat.

I hope politicians do what's best

and aren't a slimy rat.

I hope Americans everywhere stand up

and work for much needed change.

From small villages and towns

to where the nation's seal hangs.

I do hope this country

which I love so dear

becomes a nation to admire

not an empire to fear

I hope extinction, debt,

an absence of work,

corruption in Washington

politicians with pork.

I hope these things are no longer left to our youth

instead they are left with a country that cares

for all peoples in all nations

in ours and theirs

This is my hope

as I settle down this night.

Happy election day to all.

Help make this country a shining light.

Suddenly had the impulse to write something.  Definitely not the greatest poem!  But enjoy!  If you haven't already voted...PLEASE go vote!  Only one day left.
