Now, the votes are in. I know because Fantômée had a nice afternoon with coffee, tea and cake with all her sisters and sisters-in-law, so each of them could speak their mind and give advice. Compare their notes and discuss their opinions. Nine people, nine different opinions. You get what you ask for.
I never expected to be allowed to join, but when I learned that every sister and sister-in-law was allowed to bring all their children, I asked if Saijjan could join, too. After all, I can understand that I'm not allowed to state and opinion and that they might not trust me on that, but come on, with Saijjan present, I can hardly do more than listen. I might try to sit on some important paper, but that's not a big deal, is it? Saijjan is small enough and light to be picked up and placed somewhere else any time. Hard to contradict that argument, is it?
I never expected to get permission, I just complained for the fun of it, but it actually worked. I was allowed in, and got that chance to tell Will that unfortunately he never bothered to learn something equally useful and now he can't attend. He chose to invite Brian for a countryside ride instead. Saving everyone the trouble to discuss if Takosh was allowed to attend. After all, Brian is directly involved, you can't discuss as freely with him listening. I'm just some random best friend and don't have any influence on no matter what decision.
Lir didn't feel like attending, as did most of Nkechi's children. Merle wanted to attend, that learned that Will and Brian went riding and asked if she could come along - of course she could. They also took Keira and Laúro and Laúra along and Will took the opportunity to write a note to Marou and ask him to join, too. He wanted to do that for quite a long time, but as those things go, first there's no opportunity, then you forget about it... Anyway, we were joined by Viktor and Blue - no problem there, for Blue is very well-educated dog and he and Saijjan get along fine - and by Tajiri, who loves drawing floor plans. Also by Emilien, Lauritia and Laudis. None of them has seen any of the properties, but maybe that's the reason why they were interested. Get some facts first-hand and maybe get to see some more pictures. Prudence had taken some photos to illustrate her decision or to help her show what she was talking about. Nice idea.
First surprise, Nkechi didn't like any of the French properties. The one in Pays de la Loire is totally out of the question, for it's not nice. Of course the house is beautiful, as are the grounds, but the house itself is not nice. On a personality level, that is. No place to lead a happy life at - which was seconded by Alix, who explained that it was a very nice house, just not suitable for Fantômée and Brian. It might be a welcoming home to someone else, but not to them. She refused to go into details with so many listeners, but I'm sure she'll tell Fantômée more about it when they are alone, or maybe even has done so already. So, two warnings against that property - and as far as I know, at least Alix is really gifted, so you'd better listen to her. Nkechi is still a bit unpredictable to me when it comes to special abilities, but I'd listen to her, too. No idea what she might have done to come to her conclusion, either... then Ailynn said she wouldn't phrase it that drastically, but she's agree with Alix and Nkechi that there are much better choices than the house in Pays de la Loire. Lia simply doesn't like Pays de la Loire and wonders who came up with the location in the first place. The estate agent, I guess... but never mind.
About the house in Brittany, Nkechi thinks that it's really nice, but the climate is much too rough for someone like Fantômée. She'd not actually advice against it, but wants to make sure that the power, stubbornness and the winds are considered accordingly before the choice is made. She's sure that the place is perfect for Brian, and she appreciates that it's in France, but for Fantômée... not really. Rigrú agreed that the place is a bit difficult. Brittany is a nice place and an old one, willing to work with everyone who is willing to adapt to it's ways, but it's also not a soft or even considerate country. It's a great place to live at, but especially about the garden there will be struggle. She danced on the meadow and the meadow didn't want to play a soft, playful tone. So if Fantômée wants something nice and cosy and peaceful, better look somewhere else. Ailynn thinks that the place just longs for a soft, loving touch and will open up and be supportive very quickly, and Prudence showed some pictures to prove how beautiful the property is. Lia thinks it's nice, too, and with some work it will be a great place to live it. She has to admit that there are less rough places, though.
Millie didn't like the house at all, but liked the one in Pays de la Loire.
Moving westwards, the next one was the original suggestion. Cotswolds. Nothing to complain here about beauty and climate. Nice, soft, welcoming, well-ordered country. Some hills, some villages, meadows, fields and forests. The perfect place, the perfect house. It's my beautiful beloved one's first choice and I can't blame her. After all, it's a great house. It's charming, it has lots of room, it has everyone Fantômée and Brian might wish for. It even has a conservatory and a garden pond. A small forest, too. And a nice view over the hills - which is why Nkechi is concered. She likes the house, too, but neither Brian nor Fantômée live on top of a hill right now and both chose what is perfect for them, the compromise is unlikely to be on top of a hill. No one else really agrees here, but I see the point. Millie, Ailynn, Alix and Rigrú all like the place, too. Seems the house is practical, friendly, welcoming, eager to please and the meadow is nice to dance on. Trust Brian to find a perfect choice by merely making a suggestion.
Lia at least agrees that it will be possible to have a really impressive garden there. Prudence showed some more photos to second that argument.
Then there's the one in Powys. No conservatory, no garden pond, but not on top of a hill. A really nice and soft valley, with a river and a lake nearby. Very charming, but it needs some work. Alix said that the house is really nice and friendly, but also very lonely, so it might be a bit difficult to win its trust. Rigrú agrees, but adds that the area is not mistrustful and will welcome everyone who is willing to put some effort in. Millie likes that there needs to be some work done, because of the chance to create things to your liking. Ailynn likes the trees, they are protective, but is not sure if the house can offer protection, too. Prudence showed pictures of the remnants of a walled garden, which she is sure will be be perfect for Fantômée, and promised that Howard can have a conservatory built in almost no time. Powys is definitely her first choice, you could tell that with every word she said. Lia dislikes the fact that it's lonely and abandoned and is worried the house might find it difficult to get used to inhabitants again. And Millie is a bit worried because it's a listed building, but loves the floor plans. As does my beautiful beloved one. She completely agrees with me that the layout is jus perfect for Fantômée and Brian.
Last but not least, Ceredigion. White gothic-style manor in a peaceful, sweeping valley. Everything you might whish for and more, even your own part of the river. Very stately, in top-condition, just get some minor repairs done and move in. Nkechi likes it a lot, Rigrú does, too. Alix thinks it's really nice but you need to be aware that there's a lot of history clinging to that house. Ailynn is not really comfortable with the mass of that history. Prudence thinks the grounds are too big and the layout is not that great for a garden. Lia doesn't like it because if its history and the distinctive English feeling, even though it's in Wales. Millie joked that it's the closest one to Alix and Will's home, just as the Cotswolds one is the closest one to her home. And Luana, who hardly said a word all afternoon, said that she has a bad feeling about it. To her, the best compromise is Cotswolds. If you want to do Brian a favour, choose Brittany. If you want to do Fantômée a favour, choose Powys. Which surprised everyone - France for him and Great Britain for her - but looking at it closely, she might be right. Brittany is the roughest of the choices, so of course Brian would favour that. Once she realized that, Lia made a remark about him choosing something like that when choosing France, but no one was willing to comment on that.
On the other hand, Powys needs help and support to become a perfect place and that's something Fantômée is great and loves doing.
Since Saijjan wasn't allowed to make a comment, let me tell you something here: both Fantômée and Brian are great at creating a home. And creating one together isn't the worst place to start from.
