Please Don't Judge Me...

Ladies and gentlemen, I wish to discuss something that is near and dear to my heart. Something that not many people understand for what it is. Some may call me gay, a pussy, or even not manly enough to be a White Sox fan. But I feel that I must come out and say it. I'm a fan of romantic comedies. There, I said it. Now some may be saying to ( Read more... )

the divide is clear and necessary. The divide between romantic comedies and chick flicks weeds out those movies like "she's all that" from the category that "high fidelity" may fall in (and in my opinion high fidelity is a romantic comedy of sorts).
While i do not necessarily agree with the movies you've chosen to list as prime examples of romantic comedy, I will give you that you are right on with your thinking about them.

Yeah I agree that the movies I listed probably fall closer to chick flick than romantic comedy, but I had just finished watching "The Wedding Date," so I was more in one of those mindsets if you know what I'm talking about.

See, my problem is this: even though more often than not I play the role of Hugh Grant to a T, every girl I have wooed here is not only taken (that can be dealt with) but uber-christian.

Like tonight at Dinner for instance. Waiting in line for pasta, I discover that I'm right next to the mouse from "If you give a mouse a cookie". I mention that she's adorable, find out she lives in Wheaton, and the natural consequence is she's uber-christian and her boyfriend goes to Calvin!

In Conclusion, Romantic comedies are alright with me; Connor you don't have a problem. And moreover, being Hugh Grant doesn't always cut it. I'm suave, funny and smart, but. . . *sigh*

Your problem is your ugliness...hahaha
But in all seriousness, why don't girls understand that the Hugh Grant types do exist?

Probably because they know that I'll just end up breaking their heart.
"Seriously" though, I agree. "We're" out here. It's you and me vs. the world, Connor. The world of women.
There is a very fine line between the type of assertiveness Hugh Grant employs, and the kind that will get you laughed at or slapped in the face. We're out there fighting on that line every day. In the words of some techno song I downloaded, "Love is a battlefield".
