Wow, this journal is getting less and less love.

I guess that's what's kind of bothering me right now. I found this girl on Ravelry who's maybe 12 or 13 or something, and since I'm a creepy stalker curious about what she's up to, I decided to check out her blog ( Read more... )

Wow, it's been a while since I commented on your LJ. I just want to say that people do grow up and change. Even so, it doesn't mean that you have to give up the things you treasure as a youth.

I shouldn't be speaking since I've ended up as a teacher and that, by default, negates any meaningful thing I say. However, I find that people who give up on the child-like side of themselves are more likely to forget the important things in life.

It's not like I'm consciously giving up my youthful imagination. I just find that I'm involuntarily growing away from it, and that doesn't sit well with me. I've always had flights of fancy. I feel so insipid now without them...

Actually, it's harder to keep your youthful imagination than losing it. It is one of the things that you find out when you get older; you have to work hard to keep what you have in the past. It's easy to grow apart from things and people. It takes real effort to maintain it. If you don't try to hold on to it, then it will automatically slip away. It's very entropic that way.

I suppose my idea might be to do Something with a capital s. I felt like this about half a year ago. I felt that my imagination was losing its touch, and I had to force out any creative writing. What got me out of it was a cause, in particular feminism and gay rights. I'd always supported them anyway, but getting into the communities really helped kick-start my mind again.

It could be any cause you want, so long as it means something to you and you can put passion into it.
