I'm having crash issurs with Vista. I've updated everything I can think of, but I still haven't tracked down the cause of the problem. did a google search for info, and the results cover *alot* of ground. I'm hoping someone out there has some direct experience with this bug and has a few ideas ( Read more... )

Your problem is Windows Vista.

Seriously though, I got that with bad sound card drivers AND bad RAM, so...

It worked fine for the first month, not sure what happened to it. I've seen references to this particular error in google earches dating back as far as 2002, so it's an old Windows braintumor that comes in a wonderful new Vista flavor.. ugh. I doni't have the $$ to buy an extra copy of XP, so I'm stuck with getting this to work. I'm about 24 hours from reformatting and reinstalling again if it keeps up. That and I've discovered today that my hard disk is somehow shrinking. Out of 1 TB available, I have 150 gb that's just missing. I added up all my visible folders and came up with around 850 gb.

That missing 150GB is probably System Restore.

Didn't think of that, but it still seems really excessive.
