That had been terrifying. He always thought of Abby as being safe, even on this island, because she was in the lab. It was when it was proved that she wasn't safe that he really worried.

She should be able to contribute more than this.
Angua silently made a pact with herself. If the wolves didn't find the baby, if none of the others did, she would. She would find Mack out of sheer determination if need be. If she couldn't help without the nose and the teeth she didn't have a place on the Watch, and she would not accept that.

She assumed she was looking around the same way Angua was hearing. Or trying to hear. She fell into step beside her partner, frowning and looking the opposite way.
"It's a bitch, isn't it?" she said, absently tonguing a fang, then hesitated.
"No offense."

"I can't hear any of F's thoughts, I can't... sense where she is, I can't hear the baby's heartbeat. I can't fly to cover more ground and I can't see through the dark." She scowled.

Ray, at least, was looking. He didn't know Mack, but he knew Eostre in a general sort of way, and a baby was a baby and he was gonna do everything he could to find her.
* The first time he'd done it, Ray had gotten all hopeful like he'd found a clue or something...but no, he just wanted to smell Horatio's pockets for food or get a pet or something. Damn mutt.*
