I did not think this would happen.  I had thought that the Sci-Fi Channel heresy had doomed any possible remakes for at least 20 years, maybe more.  I was wrong.  I was sweetly, gloriously wrong.

Paramount has greenlit a big (apparently VERY big)  budget remake of Dune apparently to be directed by Peter Berg.  I'm not tremendously familiar with ( Read more... )

You know, I sort of wish he'd been able to make his Dune, just to see it. It wouldn't have been Frank Herbert's vision at all, but it would've been a trip. I'm also glad it didn't happen because I fear that if he'd pulled off getting it made that it would've essentially doomed any hope of a remake forever.

Ok, I'm still waiting on a continuation of Children of Dune. I NEED GOD EMPEROR. The only problem is the question of what to do after Chapter House? I honestly want to wipe my ass with a copy of Hunters of Dune.

I'm not sure God Emperor is filmable, at least not for a mass market. I'd go for it but I don't know if a Producer could be sold on the profitability factor. Heretics and Chapter House are VERY filmable, the only problem being they'd have to be rated X to pull them off properly. The whole imprinting of General Teg would be sort of a sticky subject with the mass market too since he was a child. Still, they probably are the most action oriented of all the books and I think they'd go well.

Yeah, I don't know what to do after. I haven't touched Hunters of Dune, I won't touch it. I actually DID wipe my ass with a Brian Herbert book. Literally. I'm not kidding. I wiped my ass with its pages and threw it away in cat litter. Ling tried to convince me to mail the book to Herbert, I only didn't to skip out on a stalker charge.
