There's a lot of talk in America about pluralism. But the bottom line is somebody's values will prevail. And the winner gets the right to teach our children what to believe.

The unfortunate part about this quote is that it's true. The Western mindset is that of "There can be only one truth." I'm of the belief that an overall sense of objective truth (disregarding the trivial specifics) can be gleaned from the intersection of multiple "facts".

Also, I've found recently that it's the balance of power between conservatives and liberals, Republicans and Democrats, that makes this government and society work. I consider myself a member of the religious right, but I can't agree with their tactics nor their politics.

With the power shifting toward that direction, even though their beliefs represent me better than their opposition, I fear for the future of freedom in America.
