When I try to remember how I developed such an affinity for Interactive Fiction, I find myself at a loss. Its hey-day was much before my time, the genre all but wiped out with the advent of new-fangled VGA graphics. I guess it happened a bit by circumstance. My favourite piece of IF was called Jinxter, produced in the 80s by a british company called Magnetic Scrolls. I remember playing it for many hours as a little kid, and never finishing it.

It was full of witty British humour (similar to Hitchhikers Guide), was very bizarre, but had an excellent parsing engine so playing was pretty easy. The puzzles were all logical in their own way.

I really miss games like that ^_^
