But another friend of mine who's a firey is going down to Gippsland at 6am to fight the fires at the Yallourn Power Station tomorrow - which could mean that if that goes out of control, Melbourne will

I'm sure it was only mentioned in passing... if the news doesn't concern US citizens, they don't make much of a big deal about it. For example, the Boxing Day Tsunami from a few years ago - it's the biggest disaster in our lifetimes - yet, the US media would have people believe it was the World Trade Centre attacks in 2001. But then they ignore something that was literally 250 times worth (in terms of death toll) and around 5000 times worse in terms of homelessness and even more in terms of damage...

I'm sure it's just some folks, or particularly the media (unfortunately) that they have there. But it did shock me to find out that when Bush Jr became president, about 3/4 of the congress had never left the US and gone overseas! I think that's shocking for a politician!
