And I'm actually a Nino fan, for those who may be confused

"I'm not bothered by him dating someone, but why someone who is ugly and can't act? I mean come on Nino you could probably get anyone, so why not a catch instead of a loser?"

[And the woman is automatically a loser when she's not a goddess... why?]

So this made me laugh, because: have you met Nino? (Okay, "met" is a loose term, but...) I ( Read more... )

It's the JE rule calledinvain April 28 2009, 22:08:25 UTC
Because he's a Johnnies and JE as a whole have this whole mythological golden aura around them, despite the fact that some of the boys are...interesting looking. For an factory agency that's supposed to be about bishounen, there's quite a few faces that are flirting on the wrong side of fug, but then there's the entire Japanese idea of aesthetics in play as well.

I try not to fall into the lameass fangirl trap, because...frankly, I'm mean and unpleasant but I have a sense of humor about it, but a lot of fangirls drive me up the wall (and it's why I try to avoid fandom as a rule.)

It's ALL an image, and who they are onscreen may not correspond with who they are offscreen. If you don't like someone, fine. Just don't try to faillogic your (ir)rational way out of it.

It's all an image, alright. I think most fans don't realize just how much of their appearances are scripted. JE fans aren't the only ones to display this behaviour, though it seems more obvious with them since they're massively popular.

I guess I avoid fandom too, in my own way (like by staying in my quiet corner and just laughing from a distance) but I guess there are times when I get indignant. Usually due to the utter fail!logic of being so interested in their private lives and then just dishing out hatred towards everyone involved apart from the star. Especially females.

it makes me sad when there's more scorn calledinvain April 29 2009, 18:11:23 UTC
directed at females by females when it's clearly not a black and white issue. You don't like who so and so is shagging/dating/married to? So what? You're not the person who MADE THE CHOICE to shag/date/marry. Clearly, their belief system is different from yours. You can either get over it and still appreciate the [x]'s work and not care for them as a person (or take the whole, fail! and terrible hair and whatever as it comes) or you know...get another imaginary boyfriend/girlfriend.

that's part of a big reason why D and I made HY, because we love the girls in j-entertainment and we wanted a mostly female friendly place/with gentle with a bit of affectionate bitchy snarking commentary about how AWESOME girls are.
