Name: Nayru
Game/Series: The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Canon Point: Post game
Age & Grade Level: 16; sophomore
Revised Personality: One facet of Nayru's personality is her politeness; she will treat everyone with some degree of civility, even if it's strained or forced. She never badmouths or gossips, preferring to keep her opinions about others to herself (unless they're Veran). While she can be timid and quiet most of the time, she'll do whatever she can to help a friend in need if they need her help.
Nayru's kind nature and graceful demeanor makes her seem as though she was brought up in a rich family, or at least by someone who was brought up that way. She almost always has a smile, and has good posture and manners. She can also be a dispenser of good advice, depending on the situation. It's unclear if she is an ancestor or descendant of the goddess of wisdom, whom she's named after, though some theorize she may be due to this trait.
She takes her role as the oracle very seriously; her utmost priority, other than watching over the flow of time, is to keep her identity hidden. Though she hates lying about most things, she will keep her true powers to herself as much as she's able. Tying into this, she keeps herself a careful balance between friendly and aloof. While she has her innate kindness, she really doesn't allow anyone to get close; her closest friend is Ralph. She keeps a separation between herself and others, not wanting anyone innocent to get hurt because of who she is.
Nayru hates to trouble others with her problems and struggles, even Ralph. She keeps her fears and insecurities bottled up inside, wanting to sort them out herself. She does have a stubborn side, and has a habit of not asking for help unless she truly needs it. It's mostly because of her role as the oracle that she acts that way, believing that someone with her abilities and powers should be able to solve problems herself.
More than anything, Nayru loves to sing, and make those around her happy with her voice. She can also play the harp, though whether she learned due to being the Oracle of Ages or of her own will is never revealed. Her voice is said to be the greatest in Labrynna, if not the world; anyone who listens to her sing agrees that it's one of the greatest pleasures one can experience. She attracts both animals and people with her voice.
Her main ability, the ability to travel through time, is one she can harness at will, and does not need the Harp of Ages to use it. This ability makes her desirable to many, and she's no stranger to people who want to kidnap her for use for their own means. So far, Veran is the only one who was able to succeed, though. She can also sense the 'light' and 'dark' in most people, able to detect their intentions towards her and those around her.
Backstory: Nayru, the Oracle of Ages, was born and raised in Lynna City. Her mother died after she was born, and her father, an adventurer, was presumed missing. When Nayru was eight, she had a dream, one where she was told she was the Oracle of Ages, one who could control time, and the guardian of an artifact called the Harp of Ages. Only one other person, a boy names Ralph, knew her secret. Ralph was to ber her bodyguard, and he trained every day, promising to protect Nayru always. She took on the front of an entertainer to keep those of ill will away.
Time passed peacefully in Labrynna till Nayru turned 16. While out in the forest, singing to the animals, a boy named Link entered the clearing, followed closely by a woman named Impa. However, it was not a peaceful meeting. Impa was the unwilling host of a sorceress named Veran, who quickly moved, and before Ralph or Link could intervene, Veran took over Nayru's body and used the power over time to move to the past.
In the past, Nayru helplessly watched from within her body as Veran used her power to cause chaos, and also get close to Queen Ambi, eventually becoming her adviser. Veran convinced Ambi to give in to her ego, and instead of build a tower to watch for her lost love, build a tower that reached the heavens, so she'd be remembered forever. Veran also convinced the queen to turn away casual visitors, and used Nayru's powers to create an endless day, forcing the citizens to work around the clock.
Nayru started to lose hope until one day, Ambi left Veran in the castle while she went to check on the progress of the tower. It was then that she saw Link again, who had come to save her. Veran boasted that she could not be harmed without Nayru being harmed as well, but Link used Mystery Seeds to separate Veran from Nayru, and after a small fight, Nayru was freed. Before Veran could possess Nayru again, Nayru took Link back to the present. Thanking Link for saving her, and staying with the Maku Tree for her safety, she taught Link the Tune of Ages, which he could play on the Harp to travel back and forth in time as he wished.
Nayru stayed with the Maku Tree as Link continued on his quest, and soon, defeated Veran, stopping her once and for all. As Nayru went back to her peaceful life, playing the Harp as she sang, a wrong string was plucked, and Nayru soon found herself in an entirely new place...
